Bitsa Card Free Plan: what’s included and the price

The Bitsa Card Free Plan is the basic tier of the three available plans: no monthly or annual fee, 1 virtual card and 1 physical one, a €2,500 maximum balance, and up to €500 a day in recharges and transfers. It covers everyday operations with no maintenance cost.

This guide details exactly what’s included, which fees still apply even though the plan is free, and how it compares to the Move and Pro plans to know when upgrading makes sense.

What the Free Plan includes

A Bitsa account on the Free Plan has no opening cost or recurring fee: €0 a month and €0 a year. It includes a dedicated national IBAN, no maintenance fee, and access to every basic prepaid card function.

The purchase limit is €1,500, against €5,000 on Move and €15,000 on Pro. The maximum balance the card can hold at any one time is €2,500.

Card: one virtual, one physical

The plan includes 1 virtual card and 1 physical one, without the multiple active cards with separate balances that Move (2 of each) and Pro (4 of each) offer.

Issuing each card carries its own cost per the current fee schedule: €20 for a physical card and €2.50 for a virtual one, the same as every other plan.

Recharges and transfers with a cap

Recharges are capped at €500 a day, €1,000 a month and €2,500 a year. Via external card, the maximum is 2 recharges a day, with 2 free for life; beyond that a 1.5% fee applies. The recharge limit via external card is €100 a day.

SEPA transfers share the same limit as recharges: €500 a day, €1,000 a month and €2,500 a year, under the SEPA scheme rules. The transfer fee is €1 per operation.

Fees that still apply: ATM and currency exchange

The Free Plan shares the same general ATM and currency exchange conditions as Move and Pro. International payments outside the eurozone carry a 1.75% fee, and 2% in the rest of the world. At the ATM, within the eurozone the fee the ATM operator itself charges is passed through; outside the eurozone and in the rest of the world, the fee is €0.55 plus 1% of the amount, with a €0.75 minimum, under supervision of the Bank of Spain, and withdrawals outside Spain are capped at €450 a day.

These fees don’t change between plans; what rises on Move and Pro is the purchase limit, recharge limit and card count, not the ATM or currency exchange cost.

Who should stay on Free

The plan fits well for everyday operations, online purchases, in-store payments, occasional transfers between Bitsa users, without needing several active cards at once or moving amounts close to the €500 daily limits.

Students, anyone trying a prepaid card for the first time, or someone who just wants to separate one specific expense from their main bank account, usually cover their needs without leaving the Free Plan.

How to move to Move or Pro if you need to

Switching plans happens directly from the app at any time, without contacting support. Anyone starting to bump against the €500 daily recharge or transfer limits, or needing more than one active card, finds the Move plan the natural next step, with 2 cards of each type and limits expanded to €1,200 a day.

For anyone moving money very frequently or needing up to 4 simultaneous cards, the Pro plan removes the maximum balance, and recharges and transfers stop being capped.

The full Bitsa plans table keeps every figure for Free, Move and Pro up to date for comparing before deciding.
